On to the Q&A
Question: How much do Midwest Chihuahua puppies cost?
Answer: The last litter of puppies by Midwest are due in early December of 2025. These long coat Chihuahua puppies are from EmbarkVet clear Mother, Wheatley. Sires, Riot and Harvey also offer clear EmbarkVet DNA results. All parents have clear patellas and cardiac evaluations. There is NO merle in these lines at all.
These puppies are expected at this time to be offered starting at $3500 per puppy with the majority in the $3500-$4000 range. These are mandatory spay/neuter prices for companion pet or service/assistance/therapy dog prospect puppies.
Puppies are priced individually, and littermates can have varied prices. Prices on puppies will change as puppies change and develop. ONCE A DEPOSIT IS RECIEVED ON A PUPPY THE PRICE WILL NOT CHANGE.
Question: Do you offer any discounts?
Answer: We have a page called Discounts that answers this question.
**Please note, only one discount is applied per puppy, we choose the largest available discount**
Question: How much do Chihuahuas shed? Do long coats shed more? Are Chihuahua's hypoallergenic?
Answer: Chihuahuas are NOT allergy free dogs. However, they are generally low shed. Long coat Chihuahuas shed LESS than smooth coats as smooth (short) coated Chihuahuas shed year-round and long coats only shed twice a year.
Question: How large will my Chihuahua get? Do you guarantee the adult size of my puppy?
Answer: While we are able to give an estimate of adult weight based on BIRTHWEIGHT and parental history and size as well as previous litters if applicable, puppies always "fall off" as they are growing as for about half of their puppy life is nursing and laying around. Size is not guaranteed but at maturity, almost all properly fed Chihuahuas fall within one pound either way of birth weight estimate (lower or higher) in nearly all cases in babies born to term.
Question: When can I pick up my Midwest Chihuahuas puppy?
Answer: Midwest puppies are available for pickup between 8-10 weeks old in almost all cases based on birthweight and estimated size at time of departure. This includes our final two 2025 litters.
Question: How can I get my puppy? Do you ship puppies? Can you meet me somewhere?
Answer: For the final two Midwest litters of 2025 prior to our retirement, priority and a discount is available to all clients who choose to come to the great state of Kansas to pick up their puppy be that by ground or air. Remember, please, that we meet ALL clients and there are no third party transfers. Delivery is available as well and clients are responsible for our flight, applicable puppy flight expenses and other travel costs including hotel stay. Delivery is offered most often by airline.
Question: How much is a deposit? Are deposits refundable? Can I get my money back if I change my mind?
Answer: Deposits are 100% NON-REFUNDABLE. In the event of illness of a puppy making it not fit for sale, will be returned to the buyer within 60 days of the determination. All payments made on a puppy after 4 weeks of age (to the day) are non-refundable or transferable unless due to the illness of the puppy as determined by our vet. Deposits are generally 1/2 the full purchase price of your puppy and are due within 3 days of choice by bank transfer, Venmo or Cash App.
Question: What if something comes up on my end and I can't get a puppy after paying money?
We at Midwest Chihuahuas understand that circumstances of life happen. That being said, all deposits are never refundable as previously stated. Change of mine due to landlord disagreement, family disagreement, finding another puppy you like better, finding another breeder you like better, health, children, a general change of mind, etc. are not refundable. Any change of mind (not involving the health of our puppy being considered not fit for sale by Veterinarian) after your puppy turns 4 weeks old will result in NO REFUNDS regardless of reason. In this case, your puppy will be released at a very low rate to another approved family. We will not "double sell" a puppy. ALL PUPPIES MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY 6 WEEKS OF AGE (to the day). Failure to pay in that time frame constitutes forfeiture of puppy.
Question: What methods of payments are accepted?
Answer: For our final litters we will be accepting payments via Venmo and Cash App without charge sent as a personal transaction. PayPal may be accepted with fee included. For those who do not use online payment services, bank transfer is accepted with client paying applicable fees on our end.
Question: How do I get approved to get a puppy?
Answer: The first step in bringing a Midwest Chihuahuas puppy to your home is filling out the puppy application on this site (Including Veterinary address and phone number for Vet check) and clicking submit on the bottom of the application. You MAY get to a blank page, please scroll up and you will see the information. After review of that application we will determine if you think that we would like to consider you for a puppy. Many times we will ask follow-up questions via phone or email. Once approved, you will be advised of waiting list options or available puppies. You will hear from us within 48 hours typically of application and will let you know if we need more information.
Question: How do I know that I will get the puppy I want?
Answer: Only the Universe and God control what sexes and colors are born and we have observed after all these years, that sometimes the best fits are often different than what our clients initially thought they were looking for. That being said, waiting list clients get to see all puppies born in a litter the day the puppies are born. We identify colors, sexes and anticipated sizes with photos in the first 24 hours and many clients pick right then. If there is a certain look or sex that a client is hoping to get, we highly recommend being on the waiting list and being available around when puppies are due to be born. ALL clients on the waiting list are already screened to be excellent homes for our puppies. ONLY A DEPOSIT holds a puppy so please be ready to choose if you have things in mind you are hoping to find in your future lifemate.
Question: Can I pick which puppy I want in person?
Answer: No. When we have any puppies in our home, under 8 weeks old that are not yet inoculated, we will not allow visitors to our home due to the risk of spread of disease.
Question: What will I need to purchase for my puppy? What items do you provide?
Answer: We offer a generous puppy life kit for you and your furry friend! We will let you know everything you can expect in your "welcome to the family" email that you will receive after your deposit has cleared!
Question: How can I be certain I am getting a healthy puppy? Is there any guarantee?
Answer: for our final litters, Midwest Chihuahuas guarantees all puppies are healthy and fit for sale at the time of transfer and is free of all health issues and we will provide proof that your puppy is guaranteed to test free of all possible genetic defects so you, the client, can rest easy knowing you will have a long future ahead. We are happy to test specific puppies before they leave as well at the clients request. You have three business days to take your puppy to a Veterinarian licensed in the state that you are located in to verify the health of your new addition. We guarantee your Vet will agree and offer EmbarkVet status on parents to your Veterinary team if requested. We are always here to provide support during the life of your puppy even in our retirement.
Question: If I cannot keep my puppy after I assume ownership, what are my options?
Answer: EVEN IN RETIREMENT, Midwest will require MANDATORY compliance with our First Right of Return policy indicating that if at any time in the future you are unwilling or unable to care for your puppy from us, we MUST first be given an opportunity to bring that puppy or dog back here or place into another approved residence either with a new client or approved member of the decedents choosing.
Question: Will my puppy come with registration papers?
Answer: YES! Due to American Kennel Clubs ban on Russian bred dogs, Midwest Chihuahuas will offer ACA (American Canine Association) papers to those that are interested which will be utilized due to the ban. All dogs are AKC pedigreed.
We welcome additional questions. Never hesitate to ask questions! We offer lifetime support on our puppies so your relationship with us continues beyond your purchase!
